Vocal coach Liz Caplan to host private Q&A, master class with OU School of Music

Renowned vocal coach Liz Caplan will hold a private Q&A session for the university community at the end of her visit to the School of Musical Theatre, April 5-6. 

Caplan, a Broadway, film and recording industry voice coach and vocal consultant, will visit campus to teach private master classes for juniors and seniors in the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre April 5-6.

While on campus, Caplan will also host a Q&A session on April 6, open to OU faculty, staff, students and donors of the OU fine arts community, according to a press release. 

Caplan has worked as a coach and consultant in the theater, film, TV and recording industry for over 40 years, and has worked with productions such as "Hamilton" and Disney's "Aladdin," as well as Disney and Pixar film "Coco."

Additionally, Caplan has also consulted with musician Halsey and comedian John Mulaney for their appearances on SNL, according to the release. 

“We’re so fortunate to have vocal coach and consultant, Liz Caplan join us in the School of Musical Theatre at the University of Oklahoma. She’s a force of nature and an innovative, devoted teacher," said Ashton Byrum, School of Musical Theatre director in an email. 

Caplan's techniques focus on maintaining a healthy body and voice, as well as mindfulness practices such as yoga.

 The Q&A session will be 12:30 p.m. April 6 in the Elsie C. Brackett Theatre, 563 Elm Ave., Norman.
